Pyjama Man follows an ensemble of characters – flawed, resilient and human. With the exception of Jacob Foan, the below images are reference only.
Andrew Thomas
Andrew is sharp-witted and defensive – a man who hides his bruises behind charm and bravado. Once the golden boy of a TV talent show, he now carries the scars of fame’s collapse and the silence that followed. Music is his first language, but he’s afraid of what it might reveal if he lets it back in.
At his core is a contradiction: a reluctant mentor who resists responsibility, yet finds himself caring more deeply that he dares to admit. His journey is one of rediscovering courage, connection and self-worth.
The role is partly inspired by Jacob Foan’s own life experiences – and Jacob is attached to play Andrew, bringing a lived truth to the role.
Jacob Foan
Judith Hubbard
Judith has devoted her entire adult life to Sanctuary House. Fiercely protective of the teens and unsentimental in her methods, she hides behind a controlled veneer – strength forged through years of holding the shelter together.
Yet beneath that armour lies a quiet vulnerability she rarely allows anyone to see, until Andrew arrives and upends the fragile order she’s fought to maintain.
Sebastian Waters
Sebastian (20s/30s) was forced to leave home at fifteen. After a period of homelessness, he found his way to Sanctuary House, where Judith helped him rebuild his life and earn the qualifications to enter medical school.
Now a medic, Sebastian has returned to the shelter – determined to give back to the community that once saved him. Calm, compassionate and steady, he becomes both an anchor for the teens and an unexpected point of connection for Andrew.
The Teens:
Natasha
Natasha (15) is sharp, independent and strong willed. On the surface she’s tough, quick to challenge authority, and the natural leader of the group. But beneath that armour lies the pain of rejection by her mother, Carol Meyers – a wound she carries with quiet intensity.
She keeps everyone at a distance, even her closest friend Ash, believing that letting people in only leads to hurt. Natasha’s defiance makes her both Andrew’s toughest critic and the teen he feels most compelled to protect.
Ash
Ash (14) has grown up too fast. After losing his mum at 11, he spent years dodging the violent temper of his father. When the abuse turned towards his younger brother, Joey, Ash knew they had to get out – and he’s been protecting Joey ever since.
Quick-witted and restless, Ash hides behind sarcasm and swagger. He sees himself as the protector of the pack – even though he ultimately defers to Natasha’s lead. He’s the first to challenge Andrew – testing just how much he’s willing to fight for them.
Joey
Joey (11) is a bundle of energy, rarely able to keep still. He spends his days drumming on whatever he can find – music is his way of making sense of the world.
Where Ash is sharp and confrontational, Joey is gentler, more open. He looks up to his brother but slowly begins to find his own voice at Sanctuary House. Through music, Joey becomes the bridge between Andrew and the group – reminding them what hope can sound like.
Genie
Genie (14) has blossomed since leaving home, finally beginning to live as her true self. Tender-hearted and hopeful, she longs for love and acceptance – a yearning that makes her vulnerable.
Her openness contrasts with the guardedness of the others, often reminding the group what it means to risk trust. Her creativity becomes her outlet: driving the effort to draw attention to Sanctuary House. In finding a voice for the shelter, Genie begins to find her own.
Supporting Characters:
Mr Matthews
Mr Matthews (60s) is the treasurer and chief patron of Sanctuary House. Outwardly charming and generous, he presents himself as a saviour of the shelter – but behind the façade lies a truth that threatens everything Andrew and the teens are working for. Matthews embodies the uneasy tension between philanthropy and power – when charity masks control.
Carol Meyers
Carol (40s) is trapped between her deep love for her “Tasha” and the rigid beliefs that stop her from embracing Natasha as she is. Volatile and defensive, Carol lashes out when confronted, yet beneath the rage lies a woman broken by disappointment and shame.
